Bogotá, ENERO de 2015. La Competencia Internacional de BOGOSHORTS se caracteriza por una pluralidad de proyectos elegidos entre los más de 3.800 trabajos de 100 países, de los 5 continentes que se presentan a su convocatoria. Esto permite conocer y distinguir las voces que narran con imágenes y tiempos cortos de cada región, haciendo de este evento una experiencia cinematográfica de talla internacional que se ratifica por el buen nivel de su curaduría.
Una prueba de ello, son las coincidencias con los premios cinematográficos más importantes del mundo, donde NUESTRO DESTINO (OUR CURSE) de Tomasz Sliwinski (Polonia) y TIERRA BLANCA (WHITE EARTH) de Christian J. Jensen (EE.UU.), ganadores de la Santa Lucía (Ex aequo) al Mejor Corto Documental en la Competencia Internacional del 12 BOGOSHORTS, entre los 16 cortometrajes que hicieron parte de esta competencia, son dos de los 5 cortos que se encuentran nominados en la categoría de Mejor Corto Documental de los Premios Oscar 2015. Ellos competirán contra los cortometrajes Crisis Hotline: Veterans Press 1 de Ellen Goosenberg Kent y Dana Perry, Joanna de Aneta Kopacz y The Reaper (La Parka) de Gabriel Serra Arguello.
Parece que desde la apertura de la Competencia Internacional de BOGOSHORTS, el ojo de nuestro Comité de Selección, conformado por 10 especialistas en diferentes géneros y campos de la creación audiovisual: Jaime E. Manrique (Director Artístico del Festival), Sebastián Hernández Zambrano, Juan Manuel Betancourt, Maritza Blanco, Juan Carlos Concha, Emmanuel Cely, Rodrigo Torrijos, Carlos Hernández, Felipe Suárez y Juan DiazB, es cada vez más fino.
En la categoría de Mejor Corto de Acción Real se encuentra nominado el cortometraje LA LÁMPARA DE MANTEQUILLA (BUTTER LAMP) de Wei Hu (China), que fue ganador de la Santa Lucía al Mejor Corto de Ficción de la Competencia Internacional en el 11 BOGOSHORTS. Éste competirá frente a Aya de Oded Binnun y Mihal Brezis, Boogaloo and Graham de Michael Lennox y Ronan Blaney, Parvaneh de Talkhon Hamzavi y Stefan Eichenberger, y The phone call de Mat Kirkby y James Lucas.
El Bogotá Short Film Festival / Festival de Cortos de Bogotá los felicita por estas nominaciones y les desea la mejor de las suertes. Así mismo, los invita a ver los dos documentales nominados al Oscar, en nuestra última noche de BOGOSHORTS sessions de enero, el martes 25, con proyección a las 9:00 pm (ingreso desde las 8:00 pm), en Cine Tonalá Bogotá (Cra. 6 # 35 – 37).
Bogotá, JANUARY, 2015. The International Competition BOGOSHORTS is characterized by a plurality of selected projects among the more than 3,800 works from 100 countries, from the 5 continents presented to its call. This allow us to know and distinguish the voices of each region that narrates with images and short times, making of this event a cinematic experience of international stature to be ratified by the good level of curation.
Proofs of this are the matches with the most important film awards in the world, were OUR CURSE directed by Tomasz Sliwinski (Poland) and WHITE EARTH directed by Christian J. Jensen (U.S.A) were selected winners of the Santa Lucia award for best Documentary short film between a selection of 16 short films in the 12th BOGOSHORTS edition, those two short films are now part of the 5 short films selection for the "Best Documentary short Film" category in The Oscars awards 2015. These films will compete against Crisis Hotline: Veterans Press 1 by Ellen Goosenberg Kent and Dana Perry, Joanna by Aneta Kopacz and The Reaper (La Parka) by Gabriel Serra Arguello.
It seems that since the opening of the International Competition of BOGOSHORTS, our Selection Committee's eye, formed by 10 people, specialized in different areas of the audiovisual creation: Jaime E. In the Oscar's "Best Live Action Short Film" category it's nominated the short film directed by Wei Hu (China) BUTTER LAMP, which was the winner of the Santa Lucia Award in the category of "Best Fictional Short Film" in the 11th edition of BOGOSHORTS. Tomasz Sliwinski narra la vida de su familia durante los meses siguientes al nacimiento de su hijo que sufre de Ondina, una rara enfermedad crónica que impide la respiración durante el sueño y requiere una ventilación mecánica de por vida.
Tomasz Sliwinski chronicles his family's life during the few months following the birth of their new born child who suffers from a very rare and incurable disease, the Ondine's curse (also known as CCHS), which prevents breathing during sleep and requires a lifetime mechanical ventilation.
