El FICCI 57 completa su Competencia Oficial y anuncia participantes de PuertoLab – Work in Progress El FICCI revela los nombres de las ocho nuevas películas que completarán un total de 78 producciones en competencia y anuncia los cinco largometrajes que participarán por el premio de posproducción en PuertoLab. PUERTOLAB – WORK IN PROGRESS PuertoLab, una de las iniciativas más significativas creadas por el Festival Internacional de Cine de Cartagena de Indias, llega a su tercera edición con cinco películas, tres largometrajes documentales y dos de ficción, seleccionadas entre 125 en proceso de posproducción. - El Hombre Que Siempre Hizo Su Parte de Orisel Castro y York Neudel – Ecuador (Documental) - El Negro: Crónica de un Fugitivo de Sergio Castro San Martín – Chile (Documental) - Jazmines en Lídice de Rubén Sierra Salles - Venezuela, México (Ficción) - La Fortaleza de Andrés Torres – Colombia (Documental) - Restos de Viento de Jimena Fernanda Montemayor Loyo - México (Ficción) Este diverso grupo de películas también señala el momento que el reflejan el cine latinoamericano que se vive en la actualidad. En palabras de Diana Bustamante, directora artística del Festival, estamos ante "un cine que abre caminos para una nueva idea de utopía cuya forma aún no está clara, pero que nos habla, en sus balbuceos, de una narrativa propia, bárbara quizá, que al parecer empezamos a domar. Los lenguajes que los cineastas de la región reinterpretan y apropian de manera única, expresan la vitalidad de nuestra cinematografía y su papel, ya no secundario, en un año maravilloso para el cine mundial. Donde el regreso estilizado y autoconsciente de las formas clásicas nada desmerece de las búsquedas más contemporáneas". According to Diana Bustamante, the Festival's artistic director, we are crafting "a cinema that opens paths towards a new idea of utopia, still unclear in its shape, but one that talks to us, that babbles its own, somewhat barbaric narrative, which we are beginning to tame. The languages that the filmmakers of the region reinterpret, thus taking ownership in a unique way, express the vitality of our cinema and its role – no longer a secondary one – in what is a fantastic year for world cinema. And this stylized and self-conscious return of classical forms does not undermine other more contemporary explorations."
